    Shelter

    *

Our association offers a roof over the head to particularly vulnerable persons in need, in order to protect them from homelessness.

    Dorea housing project

‘Dorea’ is derived from the ancient Greek word ‘doron’ meaning gift. Our housing project, which mainly supports homeless women with a migrant background, sets itself as a principle that every person is a gift and also has the right to be treated as such.

Every person deserves a roof over his or her head and support from outside when their own strength is not sufficient.

    Temporary accommodation

We think of our housing project as an intermediate station on the way to a self-determined life. In addition to a job, this includes, above all, an apartment of one’s own. The residents depending on their individual situation, are given time limits that can be extended if necessary.
However, the goal for all of them is to find their own independent apartment. Here, they are intensively supported by us.

    Independent living

Our accommodations are designed to enable the residents to lead their own lead their everyday lives independently. They receive all the support and advice they need, but the apartments are not permanently supervised. This concept doesn’t suit everyone, which is why we cooperate with many other organizations to find the right project and accommodation for all.

    7 apartments, 13 beds

Within our housing project, we currently have 7 apartments in Bolzano with a total of 13 beds. These give us the opportunity to offer people in need a safe and warm home. This accommodation is primarily available to single parents and single women to protect these particularly vulnerable groups from homelessness and the associated dangers from homelessness and the associated dangers.

    Who lives here?

Regardless of our target group (women and families), the people who live with us are primarily those who have already been granted asylum. The law stipulates that after receiving asylum status, they must leave their protected accommodation (camps) within a few months. In this short amount of time, finding affordable housing, especially in South Tyrol – which has already become a home for many of them – can be extremely difficult. Thus, many of them end up on the street. With our housing project, we intervene precisely at this point and try, as a non-governmental organization, to address the structural deficiencies.
